My passion for style and fashion began at an early age, when at the tender age of two I refused to allow my mother to dress me, preferring to choose my own outfits.  In my teens I participated in a teenage modelling course and began   modelling in catwalk shows, appearing in Fashion Quarterly magazine and store catalogues in the mid 1980s.  Being vertically challenged at no more than five foot two-and-three-quarters, however put paid to any modelling aspirations and I instead focused on attending Victoria University where I pursued my passion for understanding what makes people tick, undertaking a B.A. in psychology, an M.A. in Criminal Justice then on to a Ph.D. in Criminology.

For a number of years I balanced a career in criminology with bringing up two children, striving to create balance in my life, but failing to achieve it. Working in the area of crime prevention failed to ignite my passion for people and quashed my creative side. After having my second child I began working in retail for a well-known women's clothing brand which re-ignited my interest in fashion as well as a passion for working with women in particular.  At the same time working in an extremely dull job at a local university, with little people contact, became the impetus I needed to change my life for the better and start building a career I love. An opportunity to become the  'Unique Style' Personal Stylist for the Christchurch Region came at the perfect time, allowing me to lead by example and give women the tools to be the best they can be, inspiring and motivating them to discover their own unique style. Being a stylist for Unique Style Ltd has given me the flexibity and freedom I yearned for, while allowing me to put into practive the people skills and knowledge I have gained through my academic career in a creative, exciting and fun way!

I truly believe the adage 'look good, feel good' and no matter what your lifestyle, budget or body-shape, believe you can look fabulous and feel confident in your own skin.  Having gone through the process myself I understand how life changing it can be, freeing you from old patterns and negative beliefs.  I am now excited and enthused to be in a position to take others on this life-changing journey of self-discovery!
